I was told a story when I was young. Apparently, 100 years ago or so, my great grandmother went out to use the outside toilet one evening. She made herself ready and sat down, only to wake up a tramp who was looking for a place out of the cold.
A very British exchange of polite greeting was observed. The tramp allowed privacy, business was completed and the night continued as though nothing had happened.
Today, I finally uncovered the outhouse toilet.

Looking on this occasion and facility with modern eyes I am pleased that I dont have to get fully dressed in the middle of the night and can simply cross the hall to a heated bathroom. Compared to our forebears we really do have it easy! (I also can’t imagine that we would have a polite exchange with a tramp under similar circumstances).
As for the rest of the day we had a follow up health and safety visit. I was pleased to have completed much of the points raised previously and grateful for the advice received from Elizabeth of the NFU (who had travelled from Lincoln, an unheard of distance for our tramp?).
Then I’m in tidying mode, wood, fenceposts, workshop etc. Also confirming the dates for our pond and water treatment works (next week!).
I had a great discussion with Neil our resident dog trainer… a potential secret project number 6 was discussed!
When we get to the spring all the ingredients are in place for a bright future at Stanbridge Farms!
